Ben Schlafer

Ben Schlafer has lived all over the world but now calls the Kansas City area home. He attended Würzburg American High School in Germany and Immaculata Catholic School in Leavenworth, Kansas, before earning a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from Kansas State University.
Ben began his career in financial services in 2019 as an agent with New York Life Insurance Company and a Registered Representative with NYLIFE Securities LLC. He later co-founded Bison Financial Strategies, LLC, alongside Quintin Mueller, with a client-focused approach to helping individuals, businesses, and estates navigate financial complexities, achieve their goals, and secure their future.
Ben currently serves as a Regional Political Involvement Leader for New York Life Insurance Company in Kansas and Missouri, actively advocating for policies that support financial professionals and the clients they serve. His leadership and dedication help shape the industry’s future while ensuring a strong voice for financial planning and economic growth in the region.
Ben proudly serves as the District Chairman for the Eastern Kansas Region and as a member of the National Development Committee for Ducks Unlimited. Passionate about conservation and community engagement, he dedicates his time to preserving the rich heritage and lasting legacy of Ducks Unlimited, ensuring future generations can enjoy and protect our nation’s wetlands and wildlife.
Ben is married to Ann, and together they have two dogs, Fred and Louis. They are actively involved in multiple nonprofit organizations throughout the Kansas City area. In his free time, Ben enjoys spending time at their farm in Southeast Kansas, golfing, and hunting with friends and family

Quintin Mueller
Vice President & Financial Professional
Quintin Mueller is the Vice President, Co-Founder, and a dedicated Financial Professional at Bison Financial Strategies, LLC. A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, Quintin was raised in Smithville, Missouri, and is a proud graduate of Smithville High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management from Missouri Western State University, where he was also a member of the university’s football program.
Quintin began his financial services career in 2021 with New York Life Insurance Company as an agent and Registered Representative with NYLIFE Securities LLC. It was during a hunting trip in Mound City, Missouri, that he met Ben. Their shared passion for helping individuals and families make sound financial decisions led them to co-found Bison Financial Strategies, LLC—a firm built on integrity, personalized service, and a commitment to long-term client success. Today, Quintin helps individuals, families, businesses, and estates navigate financial complexity with clarity and confidence.
Beyond his professional work, Quintin is deeply committed to community service and conservation. He currently serves as the Area Chairman for the Greater Kansas City Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, where he leads local efforts in wildlife preservation and environmental stewardship.
Quintin and his wife, Brooke, reside in Kearney, Missouri, with their son, Matthew, and their three dogs—Roo, Oakley, and Blanche. In his free time, Quintin enjoys golfing with Brooke, spending time with friends and family, and pursuing his passion for waterfowl hunting alongside his dog Blanche.
Melissa Beckham
Office Manager & Licensed Service Assistant
Melissa Beckham is a proud Olathe, Kansas, native with a deep-rooted commitment to her community. As the Office Manager and Assistant at Bison Financial Strategies, LLC, Melissa oversees daily operations and administrative functions, ensuring seamless service and case design for clients. Her attention to detail and dedication to client success make her an invaluable part of the team.
Outside of the office, Melissa devotes much of her time to giving back to her community and embracing her role as a dedicated mother. She and her husband, Kiel, live in Olathe with their two wonderful children, Kiegan and Fynnlie, along with their beloved dog, Peanut.
